Graupner MX-12 2.4Ghz
Hello,
I'm sailing MM in Sweden and I'm going to buy a new 2.4Ghz transmitter. I have looked at Graupner MX-12 and would like to know if someone has used this radio and +/- with it.
Here in Sweden it's not so common and from what I heard it has been more problem with this radion than with other types (e.g. Hitech, Futaba, ...)
Since it's a German radion I suppose you have more experience using it.

RE: Graupner MX-12 2.4Ghz
Hi,
I am using the HoTT System (MX12+MX20) since November 2011, in Micro Magic´s as well as RG65 full CFK Hulls an had no Problems with the System until Today. In my Eyes the MX12 is a very good choice for RC Sailing,
Regards Roland

RE: Graupner MX-12 2.4Ghz
Hi Dick,
I'm using the MX-12 since summer this year. It's a great and easy to use system. I use it with the MM as well as other boats. The Hott - System is very simple and reliable. So don't worry to buy it if you like the Graupner product. (By the way: I'm not getting a commission from Graupner )
Regards
Richard

RE: Graupner MX-12 2.4Ghz
Hi Dick,
several MX12 are in use here in our MM scene since this year now after a dominance of Spektrum radios over the last years.
Reputation so far is very good - no problems have been arised.
The integrated telemetrie is very usable for MM use!
Radio works fine, even with low batteries (as it might be a problem with some Spektrum radios in the past and that formal Graupner IFS radios...).
All the various options in programming of the system / transmitter are of nearly no worth for you when sailing under MMI rules and you can concentrate just on the basic functions.
However it is a new and quite powerful computer system which offers many things to play with and as the still somewhat new 2,4 GHz technologie it requires some rethinking in handling and becoming familiar with the new radio not only when you are used old MHz systems before. (Sometimes less various functions makes life a little easier...)
There may be some "confusion" / concerns with hott radios about the feel of steady "need" for updating the system as Graupner is working hard on the software and publishes in my eyes quite often updates to fix bugs etc.. So far as I have seen there are no issues for our really simple use with MMs but the updates seems to be important for additional telemetrie functions and the work of the telemetrie components - so the pilots of airplanes / helis who are using this new techniques in their models should have an eye on it.
In Germany are some more or less user friendly information sources about hott available:
RC-Network Fernsteuerungstechnik
You will find several and long threads about hott - and there is also some support of questions from the hott-designer himself...
http://www.hott-lounge.de - unfortunatly currently out of work
I am also not paid from Graupner ,-) and have other radios in use as well, but I think the MX12 offers best value for money in this range of radios you can get today - even Graupner has rised their official price again since some weeks ( - starting with about 270 than surprisingly going down to 199 after just some weeks and now its about 230 EUR)
Regards
Thomas

Just for the correct record, from about 14-15 sets I know one had to be changed due to a unknown failure of the transmitter which was right out of the box but some weeks old. Graupner changed it into a new one within about one-two weeks.
