Segel

edit:
The sails
The sails are made from pretty white material , with a similar pattern and significantly thicker and stiffer than Icarex . How does that relate in practice remains to be seen .
The main sail
The sail luff is shortened by up to 1.5 cm compared to the old luff . This is the latest trend , which takes some fidgeting out of the boat .
The foot of the main at the luff has a 2 cm piece cut out at an angle . So you can pull the sail a little down on the mast with the original mast vang fitting when the boom is raised.
When using the ( under the main boom) boom vang accessory there might be a triangle of sail missing.
The main sail has no luff curve ( to create fullness in the luff ) . There are no reinforcement patchess at the points where the holes are usually set for bending the mainsail to the mast.
See pics #29 -30
The manufacturing / bonding along the luff of the sail is bad . Something critical you could say , the sail would have been better thrown in the scrap box.
See pic # 31
Caution : In the luff there is a hint of holes , although they are not quite through the fabric , probably a result of a manufacturing or bonding gadget . These holes should not be accidentally used to bend on the mainsail to the mast , as the holes are too far away from the leading edge of the sail .
See pic# 32
The Jib
The jib has a straight luff . The sleeve for forestay is clean and uniform in size . The head of the sail is about 18 mm shorter than the maximum profile . At the tack of the jib is a slight bevel. The workmanship is good . see pics #33 -35
The Mast
Here comes one more surprise . The mast consists of a pultruded 5/4 mm diameter carbon tube with a length of 80.5 cm . A second 6/5 mm diameter carbon tube , having a length of 66 cm was slided on. I thought at first , the two tubes were glued together but with a slight twist the connection was released. The tubes are a tight fit to each other and both together weigh 20.7 grams .
For comparison, a Skyshark II 2P , which is frequently used on MMi boats , weighs 9.9 grams to 82.5 cm . A Graupner 6/5mm tube that is slightly stiffer and thus suitable in my opinion rather for German boats with heavy keels , weighs 15.5 grams per linear meter ( 80 cm 12,4g ) .
See pic #36
Comment on sails / mast
A good approach is the improvement and modernization of the shape and cut of the sail . If these errors are then corrected , one could positively formulate that the rig for the recreational sailor was slightly improved , when used in stronger winds. However for this opinion at least at the current time you need to wear rose-colored glasses .
In the kits from Germany one was very unlucky if sometimes there was a problem with the sails . Now we get the frequently seen cheap goods from the Far East .
I hope that at least the manufacturing can be brought to an acceptable level and the mainsail will again have a curve at the luff . I do not assume this will be fixed as it was intentionally omitted because of the double mast.
The tuning sail makers will be pleased . Even an ambitious amateur sailor in a typical low wind area may now invest in a better suit of sails . I take the liberty to have made this judgment now already without a test sail - especially as this would make little sense with the present mainsail .
Sonstige Teile

Other Parts
The small parts are packed in different plastic bags , each containing a sticker with the part numbers . The parts for the interior fittings are made of wood . In looking at the different MM versions shown the RFH versions were quiet different, and possibly raises similar questions as mentioned previously .
The Masts have approximately 0.5 mm wall thickness more than in the old kit , boom now 6 / 4.5mm , jib boom 4 / 2.4mm . A good thing I think. Previously, it sometimes happened when putting the clips on the booms they caused a crack in the carbon tube . The rudder tube has an internal diameter of 3.2 mm , at least on the clean cut side . If you have time and a nearby source , one can purchase brass tube 4/3.05mm . Rudder play can be reduced significantly, available e.g. at Graupner Well known old issue though.
For the actuation of the rudder , the parts included are for using the pull cords. The push rod and rubber bellows from the RFH version are not in the box . I also have found no reference to the external mainsheet adjustment. At first glance, it even looks so that the Plan and the instructions do have a whatever level of German manufacturing . Only formalities such as company name and name -V2 have been adapted . The blueprint shows the control cable , the manual, the rod solution ... the new sail outline, wall thicknesses of booms and mast are not incorporated . With the application of the double mast tube the builder is left completely alone .
There was most likely not enough time and two years sometimes goes by in a flash……. Roll Eyes..!!
A lot of criticism - but should this keep us away from building a MM?
I don’t think so.
So with some pain in the stomach because of the shape of the new hull we will take it further from here.
